I agree that caution is required. However, I wasn't suggesting for a minute that you'd have super armour all round, more that improvements would allow armour to be used more liberally and support the marginal drop in the current rules from F, F-1, F-2. Also, I would hope that (weasels aside) players would have more common than produce such a beast, as I think the science-fact of the matter is stretched thin and certainly the fun-factor of a session like that would evaporate...
In my opinion 'traditional' armour will eventually be superceeded by other means, we already see this now in a limited fashion with reactive armour, trying to protect in a clever way rather than the brute-force approach. So I would happily see an upper limit imposed, with extra protection provided by equipment, traits or whatever. Maybe allowing certain super-advanced races to break the limit...
